Do I Look That Innocent?

My mind must be on ice cream tonight because I have another Baskin Robbins story to tell.  This one doesn’t involve dropped cones or tears, thank goodness.

The Baskin Robbins on Capital Hill was the most memorable Baskin Robbins I have ever been to.  And I have been to way too many B&R’s to admit to.

One night I walked up to get a treat when Brett was working late and I walked in and told the guy at the counter that I wanted a chocolate blast.

I was the only customer in the store and he was the only employee working at the time.

He didn’t even look at me, but scooped some ice-cream into the blender, poured in some chocolate syrup, added some ice, and then opened the fridge to get the milk.

I heard him softly swear as he reached his hand back into the empty fridge.

Still without looking at me or speaking to me he walked around the counter, walked out the door, and CROSSED THE STREET to a convenience store.

I wasn’t quite sure what to do.  I remember the thought quickly passing through my head that lucky for him I was an honest person because I knew exactly what button to push to open the two registers in the store.

I stood and waited.  I kind of felt like I needed to stay and watch the store.

Five minutes later he walked back in the door with a gallon of milk and he proceeded to make my order.

He finally spoke to me when he gave me my total, but he still didn’t look at me.

As I walked out sipping my cup of heavenly chocolate I realized I must have had "I won’t rip you off!" written on my forehead for him to leave me in the store alone like that.

  • I’m not sure I would say you look that innocent but, you do look that trust worthy. 🙂

What in the world?! What a completely bizaar thing for him to do! Seems like he wasn’t very happy to be at work that evening. I wonder what his boss would do if he knew his employee had left the shop like that. Not to mention being completely unfriendly to a customer! Sounds like your little wait was worth it though 🙂
