my thoughts on motherhood, kids, books and stuff

I Know the Answer. What Was the Question?

The door flings open and a little boy races into the room. He has a big grin and there is excitement in his voice.

“Mom! You will be nice if you say yes! Well…you already are nice but you will be SO SO nice if you say yes! Please tell me you will say yes!”

Smile disappears. Eyebrows crunch.

“Wait. Is it a school night? It is a school night, isn’t it? Aargh! I know you are going to say no.

Eyebrows crunch even further. Wrinkles appear on forehead. Voice raises.

“Why do you always say no on a school night?!”

The boy exits the room and storms upstairs to get ready for bed.

Mom shakes her head and says to herself, “Did I just miss something?”

  • He knows you well! I can see the expressions changing on his face as he goes from excitement to despair.

  • Maryanne

That is TOO cute! Did you ever find out what the question was?

  • Maryanne

Oh, and The Midwife’s Apprentice……awesome book!

  • Cindy Larkin

That is sooooo funny! I already feel bad for him and I don’t even know the question.

  • Jana

That soumds like something I’ve said to my own son. 🙂 To hear the excitement in his voice makes you want to give in, just this once.

  • STORY of a mother’s life. That is hilarious.

  • This is wonderful, Kim. You are clearly some great mom if this is how your kid’s mind works. 🙂
