Your Sixth Year

Year six…we had a long and very fun vacation back to Utah to see family. We caravanned down with some friends and stayed for a couple of weeks in St. George before dad flew down to meet us. You had some fun times with your cousins Kerra, Faith, and Grace and got to stay several days in their brand new house. We were there at the hottest time of the year (110–115 degree days) but it didn’t stop us from having a wonderful time.

Grandma Henke drove to Salt Lake with us and we stayed overnight in a hotel with her. We went to a very late dinner and got to the hotel at about 11:30pm. We found out the swimming pool was open 24 hours so we ran down for a late night (early morning) swim and had the time of our lives.

After picking your dad up at the airport we stayed with grandma and grandpa Nordquist for a few days. We had so much fun going to the dinosaur museum, Park City, and having the high school swimming pool all to ourselves, thanks to grandpa.

From there we went to Jackson Hole, Wyoming for a couple of days and had another very late night swim and then a popcorn and movie party.

One our long drive home we stopped at Twin Falls, Idaho and went for a walk along the river and looked at the temple.

Shortly after we returned from our trip you started kindergarten. Can I just say, “sniff sniff” about watching you climb onto the big yellow bus and then wave to me from the window as it pulled away.

Here you are on your first day of kindergarten.

1st day of school

You had a great teacher and learned to love school from day one. You learned how to read very quickly and by mid year you were reading chapter books like Junie B. Jones, and Scooby-Doo. You made lots of friends and liked having me come in to your class on Thursdays to help. I loved to see how you interacted and learned outside of the home.

You became even more of a helper to me as you learned to vacuum, dust, help with the dishes, fold laundry, and wash windows. You especially liked to rake leaves.

You also learned how to jump rope really well.
