I was browsing George Winston’s website to see if he had any new releases or was touring in our area, when I read the he has released his first book of piano solos. !!!!. I have been waiting for this since I first became a fan when Brett introduced me to his music before we were married. We have been to two (three?) concerts during that time and have listened to his music probably more than any other music we own.
I immediately went to Amazon and ordered the book. I have been playing out of it for about two weeks now and have to say it is not as difficult at I thought it would be, although it will take some time to learn any of the pieces well enough to play them in front of anyone. It has one of my favorite songs of his, “Variation on the Kanon by Pachelbel”, and it has three songs from The Snowman.
We watch the Snowman every year on Thanksgiving night (started the tradition before we even had kids) and the songs make me feel all light and airy and giddy….sounds weird, but it is true. Maybe because they fly in the movie during one of the songs. I am so excited to finally be able to learn them!
